Braid
- Braid is recommended for configurations in which pushability, tensile strength, and torquability are important.
- Higher density and pics per inch are generate more flexible.
- Braided configurations in this tool are all a 16-wire full load pattern ("1 over 2 under 2").
- Braid wire size for ≤ 10Fr (0.131") main lumen size is 0.001" x 0.003" flat wire.
- Braid wire size for > 10Fr (0.131") is 0.0015" x 0.005" flat wire.
- Braid wire material for catheters quoted by this tool is 304V stainless steel.
Coil
- Coils provide a high degree of flexibility but lack the tensile and torsional stability of braid
- Choose a coil for applications such as those requiring trackability over a guide wire through tight anatomic curvature where the catheter will not undergo significant tensile, compressive, or torsional forces.
- Coil wire material for catheters quoted by this tool is 304V stainless steel.
